Bio: Smita is a leading contemporary Indian writer. She is the writer and creator of her original horror series Khauf for Prime Video. Smita was also a part of the writers’ room for Netflix’s groundbreaking first Indian original series, Sacred Games. Her original feature crime drama, Raat Akeli Hai, was produced by MacGuffin Pictures and starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte. It was released on Netflix in 2020 to widespread critical and commercial acclaim and was one of the most-watched Netflix films in India that year. The screenplay for the film was among the top 10 finalists for the Mumbai Mantra-CineRise Screenwriting Programme 2015. A screenwriting alumnus of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Smita has also previously worked as an assistant director and creative associate on numerous programs for leading national and international TV channels.
