Tamal Sen is a screenwriter and director, and an alumnus of the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. Initially thriving in the advertising industry, Tamal’s true creative journey began when he ventured into professional screenwriting. His first feature screenplay, ‘The Gift,’ a social satire that was selected for the 2016-17 NFDC Screenwriters Lab.
Tamal’s storytelling prowess was further showcased as the writer of ‘Kaali,’ streaming on Zee5. The show became the most-watched Bengali series on the platform and has since been dubbed in multiple languages, resonating with a diverse audience. As a director, Tamal crafted the heartwarming short film ‘Dui Shalik,’ filmed over just two days on a tight budget, yet brimming with emotion.
Tamal co-wrote the award-winning Netflix original series ‘Mai’. He then co-wrote Season 2 of ‘Paatal Lok’ for Prime Video. He also worked as associate director and shot the 2nd unit for the upcoming Jhulan Goswami biopic starring Anushka Sharma, Chakda Xpress.
Since then, Tamal has created two projects – a gothic horror miniseries and a cut-throat family sports drama for various producers – currently being pitched to platforms. In features he has just finished work on a dark revenge thriller film planned for a theatrical experience. With each piece of work, Tamal continues to push the boundaries of his craft, captivating audiences with his storytelling.
