Bio | Hi I am Shyaonti, a published author, columnist voiceover artist and film critic. Wrote a screenplay and did voiceover for a webseries Soundairya’s Experiments (genre: feminist erotica) streaming on AITAP. Right now developing my own scripts and screen adaptations of books. This is my brief bio: Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature under university of Pune, Master Trainer, South Asia for Cambridge English Language Assessment, a division of the University of Cambridge, UK, a Materials Development Consultant and Trainer for British Council, a resource person for the Government of India’s digital learning platform Swayam and Burlington English, Dr. Shyaonti Talwar holds a Ph.D from the University of Mumbai. Dr. Talwar’s areas of research interest include Gender studies, women’s writing, subaltern studies, post-colonial studies, literary theory, myths and archetypes, cultural studies, film studies and English Language and Literature Teaching. Dr. Talwar has worked extensively with the print media, authored books on Communication Skills and ELT published by Cambridge University Press and on mineral stones in the Deccan Plateau of India called “Stunning Stones” catalogued in the Smithsonian Museum. She is a resource person, board of studies member, subject expert and consultant to many universities and academic bodies and has written and published several research papers and chapters in books on the areas of research interest mentioned above. Besides this, she has designed and reviewed several language learning and enhancement modules for teachers, students and professionals. She has also conducted multiple series of training programmes for educators in language skills, classroom management, teaching learning strategies, critical thinking, research theories, literary criticism across India and South Asia. Dr. Talwar is an active blogger, a trained voiceover artist and a professional practitioner of the classical dance form of Kathak. She writes regularly for the reputed digital papers The Wire and Feminism in India and occasionally for Café Dissensus and Women’s web. She conducts workshops and gives talks extensively on Mythology, Popular Culture, Gender Studies, Feminist Theory and Praxis and Language Pedagogy. She has authored the book The Devi in the Diva which looks at Goddess archetypes and their manifestation in popular cinematic texts which was run as a film analysis and appreciation course by Auroville Film Institute, Pondicherry. She is also one of the course designers for the Diploma in Film Studies to be introduced by Mumbai University. Her debut book in fiction writing called Soundairya’s Experiments is available on Amazon. Her debut book of poems is in the pipeline and will be released soon. Dr. Talwar is invested in issues and causes concerning social justice and most of her posts on social media and the papers she has written are dedicated to this.
