Sangita Aich is a 33-year-old author and filmmaker based in Mumbai, with a deep interest in exploring human psychology, emotional intimacy, and the complexities of relationships through fiction. Weaving stories around these themes is her forte, and her work consistently reflects a balance of suspense and sensitivity. She has published two novels and written and directed two short films, both of which have been officially applauded at international film festivals. Her short film, FRIEND, had also won in the children’s category at the Cannes World Film Festival – Remember the Future.

Born and raised in Kolkata in a Bengali household, Sangita’s earliest influences include the lyrical prose of Rabindranath Tagore and the cinematic brilliance of Satyajit Ray—voices that helped shape her imagination and worldview.

Sangita’s debut book, Carnage of Desire, explores human relationships, particularly the friendship between a lonely old man and a young girl. Her second book, Between the Lines, is a romantic thriller that explores the fine line between devotion and obsession. Her third book, I Knew That Stranger, is a psychological mystery, yet to be published. Sangita began her writing career in 2017, but it soon evolved into filmmaking due to her passion for films. During lockdown, she took a course in filmmaking at ICE and then began her journey with two short films. She has completed two feature-length drafts, which she is currently fine-tuning. She brings a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to her storytelling. Her writing often explores the intersection of emotional truth and lived experience, raising questions about socio-economic and political structures in her stories, reflected in the underlying tones.
