Anindita Chakraborty is a Mumbai based actor and filmmaker. Storytelling has been a constant presence in her life, from pestering her mother for bedtime stories to playing out scenes at family gatherings; she says she feels most alive in characters.
She was born as the youngest in a quintessential Bengali household in Ahmedabad, with early exposure to art, painting, dance, and performance shaping her years in school. At 17, she moved away from home to pursue a degree in computer science at VIT. She worked as a Data Engineer in Bangalore while also mentoring and volunteering with communities such as Women in Data, Impact Africa Network, and Uplyrn.
In 2020, she applied to FTII before quitting the corporate world and moving to Mumbai to pursue work in film full-time.
Over a period of 6 years, she has trained extensively from various schools and programs viz. DSM, The Artist Collective, Class Act Commune and Method(JGS) studio. She kickstarted her acting career with training and theatre and has been a part of 6 plays and directed a short play.
Building on her interest in storytelling, she made her first experimental short ‘i hear you’. She was also shortlisted among the top candidates at Cininfo’s Screenwriters Lab 2025. She is also an active member of Women in Films.
