I grew up being in love with music, fiddling around with many instruments and falling in love with the guitar and singing along to my favourite music. I spent many hours and years learning to play rock songs and imitate guitar players’ and singers’ styles and sound, spending hours on Youtube. I’d also love dancing when a new song of Hrithik Roshan came out as a kid, and I’d try to copy the steps however well I could, and this passion was renewed later in life when I discovered the genius of Michael Jackson.

Learning new stuff and picking up hobbies keeps me happy. In a corporate life these vocations would have been suited at best to “evening hobby classes”, but maybe as an actor I’d have an excuse to do them to make a living! This was my initial hunch for exploring acting, also when I’d found myself at a crossroads after quitting my tech job to be an indie musician but still feeling out of place with it. A therapist then heard me paying my dues and recommended I should try out theatre. I did a few personal sessions with a couple of theatre friends and found their exercises cathartic and exciting, the body expressions making me feel quite similar to what I’ve felt with music; stuff was just coming through I didn’t know I had inside.

Reading fiction (being a huge Harry Potter fan), dancing, trying to live honestly, practicing yoga, being recently attracted to traditional martial arts – this was stuff I didn’t think would come in handy in progressing any kinda career: but just advance me as a human being; but having come to know that these are prescribed as training for actors was an aha moment for me. I’m honestly still figuring out my ambition and inclination with acting and the capacity in which I’d want to associate myself with it, but I’m definitely down to give it an honest shot – see if I can’t gather another hobby at least that makes me alive and escape the real world a bit more everyday!
