Speaker: Abhay Koranne
Designation: screenwriter and filmmaker
Abhay Koranne is an award-winning Indian screenwriter and filmmaker who was selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough talent for 2023–24. His debut feature credit was Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018), co-written with Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, a film that went on to build strong cult recognition on streaming platforms.
He also conceived and wrote the story for Rocket Boys (2022), which brought him major recognition including award nominations and industry acclaim. He later wrote the screenplay for Indi(r)a’s Emergency (2023), directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, and went on to create and write the gritty period crime series Matka King for Amazon Prime Video and Roy Kapur Films.
Koranne is also writing Dada, the Sourav Ganguly biopic directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, and is attached as writer and showrunner for the second season of Matka King. His body of work stands out for its ability to merge scale, intensity, and thematic depth with mainstream storytelling.
